Udupi: Mahantesh Hangargi, a Karnataka Municipal Administrative Service (KMAS) officer, has officially taken over as the new Municipal Commissioner of Udupi.

Belonging to the 2017 KAS cadre, Hangargi brings experience from various civic bodies across the state. Prior to this role, he had served as the Chief Officer at the Harugeri Town Panchayat, Vijayapura City Municipal Corporation, and Indi Municipality, handling diverse urban governance responsibilities.

Originally from Nandikeshwar village in Badami taluk, Bagalkot district, Mahantesh comes with an academic background in agriculture, holding a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Agriculture.

His wide-ranging administrative experience in different regions is expected to be valuable for Udupi’s urban development and civic administration. As he steps into this new role, local officials and residents anticipate improved governance and enhanced public service delivery under his leadership.
