Udupi: A speeding car rammed into an electric pole opposite the Manipal Police Station on Sunday, causing a major power outage in the area.
The car, reportedly heading from Manipal towards Udupi, lost control and crashed into the pole with force, snapping it completely. As a result, live electric wires fell onto the road, posing a significant safety hazard.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the driver fled the scene and is currently absconding.
Repair work is underway, and local authorities are working to restore power and clear the wires.
