Our state of Karnataka is a beautiful place with an abundance of tourist spots that are rich in natural beauty and historical value. But when it comes to vacation spots, Karnataka tends to get overlooked or sidelined at times.
So we took the liberty of making a list of beautiful vacation spots where you can spend your next holidays. Don’t worry, all these lovely places can be visited on a budget too and you can rest assured that enjoying the natural beauty of Karnataka won’t burn a hole in your wallet.
1. Gokarna
Nestled in the western coast district of Uttara Kannada lies the small and scenic temple town of Gokarna. Known for its idyllic beaches and pristine waters, Gokarna is a favorite among travelers who seek a peaceful vacation.
It is the more laid-back and less commercialized version of Goa. But there are no legal casino boats of course, like in the state of Goa. Gokarna visitors can lay on the beach and simply play casino games online and get the Goa feels for lesser money!
2. Coorg
Located amidst imposing lush green mountains with a perpetually misty landscape, Coorg is a popular coffee producing hill station that is also famously known as “the Scotland of India.”
While vacationing in Coorg, you can cover the beautiful towns of Virajpet, Kushalnagar, Gonikoppal, Pollibetta, and Somwarpet, and experience the beautiful concept of “homestays” to make your experience more memorable!
3. Badami
In a valley of rugged red sandstone, nestling the Agastya Lake, Badami (formerly known as Vatapi) is an archaeological wonder owing to its beautifully carved cave temples and fortresses. Badami is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is the finest example of traditional temple architecture in India.
Once the capital city of the illustrious Chalukyas, the town of Badami is home to breathtaking Dravidian architecture. There are three Hindu temples and one Jain temple housed in Badami Caves. Rock climbing is a popular activity here for people looking for some adventure too.
4. Hampi
Hampi, an entire city preserved in its marvelous ruins, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Situated in the shadowy valleys of Karnataka, this place is a historical delight for visitors of all ages.
Consisting of 500 ancient monuments, awe-inspiring temples, busy street markets, treasury building, and captivating remains of Vijayanagar Empire, Hampi is a backpacker’s delight. Located on the banks of the Tungabhadra, this is an open museum with 100+ locations to explore.
The terrain around Hampi is as awesome and mysterious as the ruins itself – the ancient capital of the Vijaynagar Empire is surrounded by boulders of different sizes, and you can climb to the top of them with a little effort to get a stunning view of the entire city and the geography.
