Udupi: The recent discovery of a cow carcass in Kunjalu, Brahmavar, is not a standalone act by six local Hindus but appears to be part of a broader and more organized operation, claimed Sharan Pumpwell, the provincial secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), during a press conference in Udupi.

He alleged that a well-networked cow smuggling ring is behind the incident and accused Islamic extremists of manipulating local Hindus with monetary inducements to incite communal discord. According to him, such acts are part of a deliberate strategy to disrupt harmony and provoke religious sentiments.

Pumpwell emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, urging the Udupi district police superintendent to uncover the chain of events — especially where the slaughtered cow’s meat was transported and sold. He insisted that the matter goes beyond the six arrested locals and reflects a deeper conspiracy.

Drawing parallels, he pointed to the murder of Suhas Shetty, where, he alleged, members of the banned FFI group had exploited two unsuspecting Hindu youths from Kalasa. He warned that such exploitation of Hindus by radical elements is becoming a troubling national pattern.

The VHP, he said, strongly denounces the act of slaughtering a cow and discarding its remains on public roads, calling it both anti-Hindu and anti-national in nature.
