Mangaluru: The newly built Automated Driving Test Track at Pajir, near Mudipu, will begin full operations on August 18, 2025, according to Transport Department officials quoted in The Hindu.
Inaugurated on July 13 by Transport Minister B. Ramalinga Reddy, the facility aims to minimise human error and ensure fair, transparent driving skill assessments. Equipped with advanced sensors and monitoring systems, it is designed to streamline the driving licence test process.
Although originally set to open within two weeks of the launch, commissioning was delayed due to heavy rains that left the surface slippery, posing safety risks for applicants. “We postponed the start as there was a real danger of candidates slipping. The track has now been cleaned and is safe for use,” an official told The Hindu.
The Vamanjoor manual testing facility will conduct its final tests on August 16. From August 18 onward, all driving tests will take place exclusively at the Pajir centre.
Senior RTO and Deputy Commissioner of Transport Shridhar K. Mallad confirmed that candidates with bookings after August 18 must attend their tests at the new location.
