Mangaluru/Udupi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) have forecast intense rainfall with strong winds for coastal Karnataka through July 27. Gusty conditions over the Arabian Sea are also expected to cause rough sea states.

Public Urged to Stay Cautious

Authorities have advised residents, tourists, and fishermen to stay away from rivers, lakes, and the coastline. Children, outdoor workers, and the general public are strongly discouraged from stepping out during periods of heavy rain, lightning, or wind, and should take shelter in safe, secure buildings.

  • Avoid standing near old trees, electric poles, and broken power lines.

  • Stay clear of weak or aging structures and rooftops with overhanging branches.

  • Remove hazardous creepers or limbs to prevent storm-related damage.

    In vulnerable zones, the risk of landslides remains high. Residents in such locations have been instructed to remain alert, contact local authorities, and relocate to relief centres if necessary, before the weather worsens.

    Farmers are asked to suspend all outdoor agricultural activities during extreme weather to ensure personal safety.
