Mangaluru: The valedictory ceremony of Joshiana 14.0, the national-level IT fest organised by the Students Association of the Department of Computer Applications at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), was held on 22 November 2025, marking the successful conclusion of two days of intense competition, collaboration and creativity.
Ceremony begins with warmth and reflection
The programme opened with a soulful prayer, setting a calm and inspiring atmosphere for the evening. Dignitaries were then escorted to the dais and warmly welcomed by the audience.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr Purushothama Chippar, Vice Principal of SJEC. Other distinguished guests included Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director-SJEC; Rev. Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, Assistant Director-SJEC; Dr Hareesh B, Head of the MCA Department; Ms Nishmitha J, Convener of Joshiana 14.0; Mr Harshith B, President of TechnoCrats; and Ms Sannidhi Shetty, Secretary of TechnoCrats.
Second-year MCA student Mr Ruvel Aaron Mascarenhas delivered the welcome address, appreciating the collective efforts that shaped the success of the fest.
Messages of motivation and insight
Delivering the keynote message, Chief Guest Dr Chippar emphasised that true skill emerges from consistency, practice and perseverance. He advised students to develop skills that would stay relevant and sustainable for the future, rather than following trends blindly.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta said that success is not defined solely by winning but by participation, curiosity, self-belief and the readiness to evolve. He encouraged students to continue learning as technology advances rapidly and innovation remains constant.
Participation and performance celebrated
A detailed report on Joshiana 14.0 was presented by Ms Sannidhi Shetty, highlighting the enthusiastic participation of 32 colleges and around 349 students, reinforcing the fest’s growing stature and enriching academic spirit. Participants shared positive feedback, appreciating the smooth organisation and engaging events across both days.
Recognising excellence: Prize distribution ceremony
The prize distribution marked the highlight of the evening, with outstanding teams honoured for their achievements across various events in UG and PG categories. The overall titles were awarded as follows:

• Runners-Up: Canara College, Kodialbail
UG Category
• Overall Championship: St Aloysius College, Mangalore
• Runners-Up: Sri Mahaveera College, Moodabidri

A graceful conclusion
Following the prize ceremony, Mr Sunith Kumar T, Co-Convener of Joshiana 14.0, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, judges, organisers, volunteers and participating institutions.
The event concluded with the rendition of the college anthem, bringing Joshiana 14.0 to a celebratory close. The fest stood as a strong testament to the innovation, teamwork and excellence that define the IT community at SJEC.
