Mangaluru: Expressing serious concern, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath strongly condemned what he called a disturbing rise in anti-Hindu activities in Karnataka. He blamed the current Congress-led state government for allegedly encouraging such actions through its appeasement policies.
Referring to recent incidents, the MLA pointed out that miscreants had desecrated public spaces, including the shocking act of throwing a cow’s udder on a main road in Brahmavar’s Kunjalu. Similar troubling cases have also emerged from Chamarajpet, Honnavar, Ramanagara, and more recently in Hosanagara, where a milking cow was found slaughtered.
Kamath also highlighted a violent episode in Hukkeri, Belagavi, where cow protection activists were reportedly tied to a tree and assaulted. He asserted that these events clearly reflect a rise in communal elements deliberately targeting Hindu sentiments without fear of legal consequences.
He lamented that in a state known as “Gao Vishwasya Matarah” – a land where the cow is revered as the universal mother – both human and animal lives are now under threat. Kamath claimed that since the current government assumed power, the safety of Hindus and protection of sacred animals have deteriorated significantly.
The MLA demanded immediate registration of cases under the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act and called for a thorough, high-level investigation. He urged the police and state authorities to act swiftly and sternly, without leniency, against those responsible for such brutal acts.
