Max Rasquinha played a transformative role in introducing Toastmasters to Mangaluru in the early 2000s. He founded The Winners’ Club, the first Toastmasters club in the coastal belt, laying the foundation for a movement that has since grown to over 20 clubs in the region.

His vision was to create supportive spaces where individuals could overcome fear of public speaking and develop confidence through encouragement and practice.

Professionally, Rasquinha was a successful businessman in the oil industry and spent several years in Houston, Texas. Despite his international career, he remained deeply connected to his roots in Mangaluru.

From his residence in Valencia, he established multiple platforms that contributed to intellectual and personal development, including the Mangalore Amateur Speakers Club, Mangalore Quizzing Foundation, International Institute for Public Policy (IIPP), and the International Orientation Centre.

Rasquinha’s service extended beyond communication training. In 2010, he served as the 94th President of the Houston Downtown Lions Club, contributing to initiatives focused on youth leadership, healthcare, and community welfare.

Along with his wife Jessie, he instituted the “Outstanding Community Leaders of Mangalore” award through IIPP, recognising individuals who have made significant contributions to society.
