Kadri police have apprehended two young men in connection with the theft of a locker containing ₹3.30 lakh in cash from a nutrition product outlet in Kodialbail.

The detained suspects are Yashwanth Naik (19), a native of Kadur, Chikkamagaluru, currently residing in Mallikatte, and Niroop, also known as Shravan (19), from Labour Colony, Shaktinagar.

Yashwanth was employed as a daytime security guard at the store, while Shravan had earlier worked there but had resigned before the incident.

On the night of June 28, store personnel secured ₹3,33,030—the day’s earnings—inside a locker and closed the premises. However, when they arrived on June 30, they noticed that the shop’s shutter lock had been tampered with. Upon further checking, they found the locker missing. A formal complaint was immediately lodged at the Kadri police station.

Investigators learned that days before the theft, the shutter lock’s key had disappeared. Authorities suspect this missing key was used to access the store.

During their probe, officers became wary of Yashwanth and Shravan. When questioned, both individuals admitted to committing the theft together.

The police have retrieved the stolen locker, recovered the cash in full, and seized the motorcycle used during the crime.

Officials stated that further inquiry is underway to verify if the duo were involved in other similar thefts.
