In a recent operation at Mangaluru Airport, customs officers intercepted a passenger from Bhatkal traveling on Air India Express Flight No. IX 814 from Dubai. Based on profiling techniques, the officers conducted a thorough examination of the passenger’s belongings on Tuesday, leading to the discovery of smuggled gold.
Seizure of Smuggled Gold
Upon scanning and inspecting the passenger’s trolley bag, customs officers uncovered 96 grams of 24-carat gold, valued at Rs 6.2 lakh. The smuggled gold was cleverly concealed in paste form between double-layered brown paper sheets within the bag.

The vigilant profiling and diligent efforts of customs officers resulted in the successful interception of the smuggled gold, preventing its illegal entry into the country.
