Uttar Pradesh: In the Railways colony at Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, is in shock after a doctor, identified as Dr. Arun Kumar, allegedly murdered his wife and two children before taking his own life. Dr. Kumar, an eye specialist working as a medical officer with Railways, was posted at the Modern Rail Coach Factory in Rae Bareli.
Dr. Kumar had been reportedly suffering from depression, which is being explored as a possible factor in this heartbreaking incident. The doctor resided in Rae Bareli with his wife, Archana, and two children, 12-year-old daughter Adiva and 4-year-old son Aarav. The family was last seen on Sunday, and when attempts to contact them failed over the next two days, colleagues of Dr. Kumar visited his home.
Upon entering, they discovered a gruesome scene – the lifeless bodies of Dr. Kumar, his wife, and their two children. The crime scene revealed the presence of a hammer, bloodstains, and drug injections. Initial investigations suggest that Dr. Kumar may have administered drugs to make his family unconscious before inflicting fatal blows to their heads. In a failed suicide attempt, he initially tried to slit his wrists and eventually resorted to hanging.
Rae Bareli SP Alok Priyadarshi stated that the post-mortem examination would provide more insights into the tragic incident. Neighbors expressed shock, describing Dr. Kumar as a nice person who was kind to his patients. They speculated that family problems might have led to such a devastating outcome. Senior police officers, including Lucknow Range IG Tarun Gauba, are examining all possible angles, including Dr. Kumar’s reported bouts of aggression.
