In Palghar, a 20-year-old man reportedly concocted a fake kidnapping story in an attempt to extort money from his father. The incident came to light when the father reported to the Valiv police that his son had left home on December 7 and had not returned, leading to the filing of a missing person’s case on December 8.
The Fake Kidnapping Scheme Unfolds
During the investigation, the father received a distressing call from his son, who claimed to be held captive by three individuals demanding a ransom of Rs 30,000. To further the ruse, the son even sent a QR code to facilitate the payment. In response, the police swiftly initiated a search operation across Vasai, Virar, Nallasopara, and other regions to locate the alleged kidnappers.
Discovery of the Truth
As the investigation progressed, the man was eventually found in Vasai phata on Saturday. Upon questioning, he admitted to staging the entire kidnapping scenario to extract money from his father. It was revealed that the motive behind the elaborate scheme was the father’s refusal to provide financial assistance, prompting the son to resort to this extreme measure.
