In Palghar, a 20-year-old man reportedly concocted a fake kidnapping story in an attempt to extort money from his father. The incident came to light when the father reported to the Valiv police that his son had left home on December 7 and had not returned, leading to the filing of a missing person’s case on December 8.

The Fake Kidnapping Scheme Unfolds

During the investigation, the father received a distressing call from his son, who claimed to be held captive by three individuals demanding a ransom of Rs 30,000. To further the ruse, the son even sent a QR code to facilitate the payment. In response, the police swiftly initiated a search operation across Vasai, Virar, Nallasopara, and other regions to locate the alleged kidnappers.
