Mysuru: The Police resorted to a lathicharge at the Maharani College circle at 8.30am and 10.30am where hundreds of supporters from across Mysuru Taluk had gathered.
Amid tight security around the Maharaja Junior College premises, the much awaited poll counting of Gram Panchayath election  was held on Friday. Hundreds of supporters witnessed the count, the results of which were expected to renew plans for rural development.

Supporters were seen expressing dissatisfaction in front of poll counting centre saying that many votes had become invalid due to incorrect casting during election – The seal was not in the right place.

In order to ensure a  transparent counting process the Deputy Commissioner C Shikha inspected the counting centre, where peoples mandate for 37 Gram Panchayath of Mysuru Taluk was ongoing.

Besides the  Deputy Commissioner of Police Shekhar, Tahasildar Naveen Joseph and other officials and police personnel’s ensured a smooth counting in the counting center. Meanwhile, the police were forced to take  action to disperse supporters who gathered at the JLB road. Apart from that, the tight security created hurdles for commuters.

Due to a lack of proper instructions to the police personnel to handle the situation, the police and other security forces did not allow even the candidates who contested  Gram Panchayath election inside the hall during the poll counting, even with an entry pass.
