In a chilling turn of events, the body of a 22-year-old man who had disappeared the previous day was found off the Kasargod coast early Wednesday, sparking fears of foul play.
The victim, Aditya from Kasargod Kasaba, was discovered by local fishermen near the Alive Bagilu area, close to the port. The youth’s body had become ensnared in a fishing net, and those who spotted it said there were visible injuries, suggesting he may have been assaulted before his death.
Adding to the suspicion, Aditya’s gold chain and bracelet were missing, leading his family to believe he may have been targeted for robbery. They have filed an official complaint with the authorities.
Aditya was declared missing on Tuesday, triggering a widespread search by fire personnel and the coastal police. His motorcycle and cellphone were later located abandoned near the port, but there was no sign of him until his body turned up in the water the next morning.
The Kasargod Town Police immediately arrived at the scene and carried out an initial inquiry. His remains were later shifted to Kannur Government Medical College Hospital for a detailed autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.
An FIR has been registered, and investigators are now actively pursuing leads. With personal ornaments missing and wounds evident, officials are seriously considering the possibility of a murder committed for monetary gain.
