By banning an astounding 212,627 accounts in less than a month, Elon Musk’s X Corp has created a new precedent in India and demonstrated a serious crackdown on content that encourages non-consensual nudity and child sexual exploitation.
Additionally, 1,235 accounts were removed from the microblogging platform in the nation for encouraging terrorism on the platform.
X stated that it has put in place a number of policies aimed at reducing child sex abuse and acts of terrorism.
In its monthly report, X stated that during the same period, 5,158 complaints were received by its grievance redressal mechanisms from users in India.
Most complaints from India were about ban evasion (3,074), followed by sensitive adult content (953), hateful conduct (412), and abuse/harassment (359).
In addition, X processed 86 grievances which were appealing account suspensions.
“We overturned 7 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended,” said the company.
“We received 29 requests related to general questions about accounts during this reporting period,” it added.
