Shivamogga: “By creating an industry-friendly environment in the district, Shivamogga will be transformed into an ‘industrial hub’ and a model district in the state,” said Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a two-day mega job fair “Udyog Mela” on Monday, February 24, he said, “The work towards setting up industries in the district is underway and in the next three and a half years, all the projects will be completed. The airport development work at a cost of Rs 220 crores has been initiated and the work will begin in the next 15 days. The target is to complete the work with eight to 10 months. Because of this, we are expecting the industries to grow in the district.”

“Except for Bengaluru, in the rest of the places, areas will be identified for industrial setup and necessary funds and support will be provided. The government has already spoken to 42 important industrialists. We aim at taking both the agricultural and industrial sectors together towards the sustainable development of the state,” he added.

Speaking about the startup initiatives, CM BSY said, “In order to promote and encourage startups, the government will help provide loans at lower interest rates, easy licensing process etc. The youth should come forward and take up this initiative, in order to help provide employment opportunities to others.”

Throwing light on the “Udyog Mela” he said, “The ‘Udyog Mela’ has been organized every year since 2009 in order to provide employment opportunities to the youth. We will continue to do so in the future as well. In this year’s job fair, more than 150 companies participated and have provided on the spot job offers. Around 45 job tests were conducted in the district, in which 2651 people have been benefitted. Because of the job fair, 11500 people have been able to get jobs. Under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, 3609 people have been trained and 2600 have got jobs.”

Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol, Deputy Commissioner K B Shivakumar, MP B Y Raghavendra, legislators and others were present.
