Dayal Padmanabhan’s “Aa Karaala Ratri” was released last week to excellent critical reviews. The film also did decently at the box office. As we all know, the film is based on a play by Mohan Habbu. However, what we do not know is that the film was supposed to be made in the 1980’s with Dr Rajkumar in the lead.
The popular director duo Dorai-Bhagavan had proposed the story to Dr Rajkumar and was planned to be shot in Ladakh and some preparation was undertaken but, in the end, the actor backed out as he felt the story was too dark. Initially, Dr Rajkumar felt that the film will be good, however, he later felt that his role would not be liked by his fans. Therefore, he backed out.
Meanwhile, Dayal Padmanabhan’s “Aa Karaala Ratri” is doing decently in the second week as well. This may end up being his biggest commercial success if it continues to run the same way. The film has Karthik Jayaram, Anupama Gowda, Rangayana Raghu and Veena Sundar in pivotal roles. It has editing by Sri Crazy Mindzz and cinematography by P K H Das.
