‘Sorry, I am busy this weekend’ is an answer we hear from most youngsters today on being invited to a party or any such community event. This is to a point where youngsters today don’t see the need to set aside even a Sunday.

And the reason for being so busy? Classes to crack an entrance exam to get into a reputed B-school and pursue a career in a country away from home, where they believe lies the answers to all their dreams.

But the question is, can these places have the things for which a youngster today really dreams? The answer is yes, if we agree that success, wealth and status are the things that make up for a youngster’s dream.

Yet, the wise would realize that within those young and tender hearts lie a more real dream, which stays unfulfilled, leading to a void, a dream to belong, a dream to be loved and dream to have someone to go to.

It’s not long before that void gets filled with relationships, these young souls, with zero experience enter into, not knowing how far to go and how soon, and how once there, to handle it.

Dating and marriage can be similar to the excitement of dancing on a tightrope, to a point where these youngsters reach the center, having gotten absolutely no advice on the dangers they could face and how to balance better once there.

One can only guess what happens then, all thanks to weekends at coaching classes, surrounded by lectures on how to crack a competitive exam than relationships that they should be taught to foster under the guidance of a community that can look after their overall good.

This serves as a lesson for today’s parents. You don’t need your child to start with a six figure income. All you need is a child who finds for himself a place in the community, a community that he, in those early growing years of his life, can always seek guidance from and reach out to, to become happier citizens of the future, and create a similar community of love and care for the next generation, that they can pass on these values too.

For we don’t need a successful community around us, as much as we need people we can support and also hold on to.
