Delhi: Delhi’s poor air quality has been the topic of heated discussion for a while now. Despite efforts to curb pollution, air quality shot up to a very bad level, posing a risk to the health of people.

Many people used social media platforms to share trolls and express their concerns. This time, food delivery service Zomato has made fun of the Capital City’s poor air quality.

Taking to Twitter on Monday November 7, Zomato apologised to customers in the Delhi-NCR region for the unexpected ‘smokey’ flavour in their chicken orders. “sorry delhi-ncr, our chat support can’t help if your chicken gets delivered as smoked chicken,” tweeted Zomato. The tweet soon went viral after social media users reacted on it and shared memes in response.

Reply to the tweet, a user wrote, “haha jokes on you Zomato.. this tweet is not visible for delhiites right now.”

Another user commented, “Send a raw chicken it will be grilled on the way to delivery.”

“Better you launch a new dish, ” Chicken – Parali” … Meritnated with organic Parali stocks overnight and smoked over Parali flames.. served with Frothy Chilled Yamuna Elixir,” tweeted a user.

“Make more such insensitive jokes and you may be smoked out by the competition,” was a response from another person.

A user said that he got choked to death during his two-day visit to Delhi. “Somehow managed to survive on heavy dose of anti allergics and got out of there. I still wonder how people staying and breathing air there and not even complaining about! And politicians are playing blame games!,” he added.

“The fact that Delhi’s hazardous air which puts the life of millions at risk has become a joke for corporations like Zomato is indicative of widespread corporate malice masquerading as need for engagement. Utterly disappointing,” wrote a Twitter user.

The air quality in Delhi-NCR deteriorated over the past five days. However, the Meteorological Department stated that on the morning of Wednesday November 9, Delhi’s air quality slightly improved, thanks to a favourable wind speed during the night, but it was still very poor. The overall air quality index recorded was 323 on November 9.
