Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group, fulfilled his commitment by presenting a Thar to Naushad Khan, the father of Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan. Mahindra had pledged to gift a Thar to Naushad following Sarfaraz’s Test debut, recognizing Naushad’s significant contributions that enabled Sarfaraz to achieve his dream of representing India in cricket. Upon Sarfaraz’s debut in Test cricket, Anand Mahindra decided to honor him with a Mahindra Thar. This decision came after Mahindra expressed his admiration for Sarfaraz’s story in response to a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In a widely circulated video, Sarfaraz and Naushad were captured revealing their newly acquired Thar.

Sarfaraz made a remarkable debut for the Indian cricket team, setting a record for the fastest fifty scored by a debutant. He showcased his talent by scoring half-centuries in both innings of his Test debut.

Hailing from Mumbai, Sarfaraz, a prominent figure in domestic cricket, displayed consistency by notching up three half-centuries in three Tests against England. Following India’s triumph in the five-match series with a 4-1 victory, Sarfaraz earned his maiden central contract from the BCCI.

In a recent revelation, Sarfaraz shared how his father Naushad encouraged him to approach domestic matches with the mindset of representing the nation, even during the period when his selection for the Indian team was delayed despite his impressive performances in the national circuit.

“I used to inquire with my father about when I would get the opportunity to play for India and if there was any support for us. He always advised me with one thing: ‘Consider yourself playing for India in your next domestic match and aim to score runs there too. So, my sole focus was to score runs wherever I played,” Sarfaraz disclosed during the India Today conclave.

Sarfaraz also mentioned the overwhelming support he received from fans on social media platforms, noting a substantial increase in his Instagram followers following his Test debut.

“My Instagram followers have surged to 1.5 million after my Test debut. Previously, it was around 600-700k for the past four years. Suddenly, after representing India, it has doubled to 1.5 million. It’s quite gratifying,” Sarfaraz remarked.
