Nagpur: The Super 8 stage of the ongoing IndusInd Bank Nagesh Trophy was inaugurated on Sunday at the MLA Guest House in Nagpur.

The Super 8 stage of Nagesh Trophy- Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2023-24 will kick off on Monday with Odisha, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka locking horns in the knockout matches.

Arjuna Awardee Ajay Kumar Reddy was the chief guest. Cricket Association for the Blind in India, Cricket Association for the Blind in Vidarbha and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled are organising the Super 8 Matches at Nagpur.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) Dr Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar said “It is an important milestone for CABI and having Ajay Reddy with Arjuna Award makes me feel very positive that Cricket for the Blind was able to bring the change that CABI Dreamt. I congratulate all the teams and wish them the best”.

Ajay Kumar Reddy was felicitated by the Chairman of CABI and officials from the Cricket Association for the Blind in Vidarbha. Speaking on the occasion Ajay said, “Work Hard and your work will be supported by CABI. You will get to play for India if you chase your dream”. The Cricket Association for the Blind in Vidarbha received the Affiliation letter from the Chairman. The Cricket Association for the Blind in Vidarbha was granted affiliation in the recently held CABI GC meeting.

Odisha, Telangana and Gujarat, Rajasthan will kick-start the proceedings on Monday. This is for the first time that Nagesh Trophy is being played in Nagpur. The matches will be played at SB City College Cricket Ground and Indian Railways Cricket Ground.

The Super 8 stage league matches will be played on the first 3 days and the semi-finals will be played on February 1. The finals of the mega event will take place on February 2 in Nagpur. Odisha, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka are the eight teams that will compete in the Super 8 stage.

Nagesh Trophy was launched in memory of Late Shri SP Nagesh, Founder President, of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India and Founder Trustee, of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. The launch of the tournament brought together the entire blind cricket community into one huge platform, by creating a milestone in blind cricket history.
Group A – Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha and Telangana
Group B – Karnataka, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh
