Yashasvi Jaiswal made headlines on day 2 of the 2nd Test at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag by notching his inaugural Test double hundred. In doing so, he etched his name as the third-youngest Indian cricketer in Test history to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar.

The milestone moment arrived with flair as Jaiswal seized the opportunity on the second delivery of the 102nd over. A full toss from Shoaib Bashir was expertly swept to the square leg fence, propelling Jaiswal past the 200-run mark.

From the outset of the 102nd over, Jaiswal exhibited clear intent to reach the milestone promptly. Bashir’s quicker delivery aimed at Jaiswal’s pads was dispatched over the square leg fence for a maximum, catapulting him to 197.

The subsequent delivery from Bashir presented an irresistible opportunity, which Jaiswal capitalized on emphatically. Shedding his bat and helmet in jubilation, the Mumbai cricketer celebrated his maiden Test double century with unbridled enthusiasm.

Notably, Yashasvi joins the ranks of the 11th youngest players to achieve a double century in Test cricket.

India’s playing XI for the match comprised Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Rajat Patidar, Srikar Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mukesh Kumar.
