India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is expected to play for Saurashtra in their upcoming Ranji Trophy fixture against Madhya Pradesh, scheduled to begin on Saturday at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

The 36-year-old veteran, who was not included in India’s ODI squad currently touring Australia, has made himself available for the first-class match to stay match-ready ahead of next month’s Test series against South Africa, according to Cricbuzz. Jadeja last featured in a Ranji Trophy match against Assam during the previous season, playing two matches and earning the Player of the Match award against Delhi with a stellar all-round performance — scoring 38 runs, taking five wickets for 66 runs and seven for 38 in the two innings.

In 47 Ranji Trophy appearances for Saurashtra, Jadeja has amassed 3,456 runs at an impressive average of 57.60 and taken 208 wickets at 21.25, highlighting his value as a top-ranked Test all-rounder.

Saurashtra, led by Jaydev Unadkat, started their 2025/26 Ranji campaign with a narrow first-innings victory over Karnataka, where left-arm spinner Dharmendra Jadeja shone with a 10-wicket haul. Ravindra Jadeja’s inclusion is expected to further strengthen the side’s prospects in the tournament.

Reflecting on his omission from the Australia ODI squad, Jadeja had said, “It is a good thing that they communicated the reason behind my omission. I am happy about that. But whenever I get a chance next, I will try and do what I have done all these years. If I get a chance in the World Cup and there are many ODIs before and if I do well there, it will be a good thing for Indian cricket. Winning a World Cup is everyone’s dream. We narrowly missed out last time, so next time we will try and make up for it.”

Jadeja last appeared in India’s two home Tests against the West Indies earlier this month, scoring an unbeaten 104 in the first Test in Ahmedabad and taking eight wickets across the series as India completed a 2-0 whitewash. His return to domestic cricket is expected to provide valuable match practice ahead of international commitments.
