Recently, a detailed menu from the Titanic’s April 14, 1912, service resurfaced on the microblogging platform, igniting a flurry of comments. Under the username “Fascinating,” a user who wishes to remain anonymous shared two slides that feature images of the original menu cards that were given to first and third class Titanic passengers.

With their historical charm, the menu cards provide an insight into the delicious food that was served during the tragic journey of the Titanic. The pictures showed a first-class menu with many delectable options, such as corned beef, chicken à la Maryland, fillets of brill, consommé fermier, and cockie leekie vegetables with dumplings.

The ‘From the Grill’ section showed grilled mutton chops alongside various potato dishes, while desserts such as custard pudding, apple meringue, and pastry rounded out the offerings. The buffet spread included treats like salmon mayonnaise, potted shrimp, and an assortment of meats and cheeses, featuring Virginia and Cumberland ham, Bologna sausage, and cheeses like Cheshire, Stilton, and Gorgonzola. Dated April 14, 1912, and titled RMS Titanic, the menu adds a poignant historical dimension to the culinary experience aboard the iconic ship.

Dated April 14, 1912, the third-class menu featured a modest but delicious assortment of dishes. Breakfast options for travelers included smoked herrings, jacket potatoes, ham and eggs, marmalade, Swedish bread, fresh bread and butter, tea, and coffee. Rice soup, fresh bread, brown gravy, boiled potatoes, sweet corn, plum pudding, sweet sauce, and fruit were among the dinner options. In addition to tea, the tea spread included cold cuts of meat, cheese, pickles, fresh bread and butter, rice with stewed figs, and more tea. This menu adds to the historical account of the tragic journey by reflecting the options available to third-class passengers aboard the Titanic.
