Udupi: The Karnataka High Court has granted an interim stay on the caste abuse case filed against Udupi POCSO Special Government Prosecutor Y.T. Raghavendra, along with Manoj and Sanjay, in a complaint registered at the Udupi Women’s Police Station.
The stay was issued on Wednesday during an urgent hearing held before 3 PM. Justice S.R. Krishnakumar presided over the matter and passed the temporary stay order. Senior advocate P.P. Hegde represented Raghavendra in court.
Raghavendra had approached the High Court challenging the FIR lodged on July 15 under caste atrocity provisions. Speaking about the case, he denied all allegations and said, “I have not gone into hiding; I am available in my office. As per the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a 14-day preliminary investigation should be conducted before registering such cases.”
He further questioned the timing of the complaint, stating that the alleged caste abuse reportedly occurred eight years ago while the complainant was working in his office. “After so many years, to suddenly level such allegations under pressure is unjust and untrue,” he asserted, dismissing the case as fabricated.
The High Court’s stay provides temporary relief for the accused, and further hearings are expected to determine the future course of the case.
