Sea Erosion Crisis in Uppala

A 5-km stretch of coastline from Sharada Nagar to Peringadi near Uppala is facing severe sea erosion, destroying roads and threatening homes. The protective seawall built three years ago has collapsed under relentless waves.

Roads connecting Kurchipalla–Manimunda and Hanuman Nagar have vanished into the sea. Nearly 400 fishing families are now under threat. Houses of Sunanda Salian, Shashikala, Jayaram, and others are at high risk, along with the Sharada Bhajana Mandir.

Coconut trees, the fishermen’s shed, and other coastal structures have also been lost to the erosion.
