Udupi: The “Vidyavachaspati Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya Navathi Janmavadhanti Utsav” will be held on August 9 at 5:30 PM in the Rajangana Hall of Sri Krishna Math, Udupi, announced Committee President and former MLA K. Raghupathi Bhatt at a press conference.
The celebration is being jointly organized by Sri Krishna Math Paryaya Puttige Math, Bannanje Govinda Panditacharya Navathi Committee, and Ishavasya Pratishthana, Ambalpady.
The event will be inaugurated by Sugunendratheertha Sripad, head of the Paryaya Puttige Math. Junior seer Sushreendratheertha Sripada will release one of Bannanje’s published works during the ceremony. Notable guests include MP Kota Srinivas Poojary and MLA Yashpal Suvarna. The program will be presided over by Raghupathi Bhatt.
Dr. Bannanje Govinda Acharya, a towering figure in the fields of Sanskrit and Kannada literature, is globally recognized for his deep scholarship and eloquent discourses. Over his lifetime, he has contributed more than 350 scholarly works, extensively exploring sacred Indian texts including the Vedas, Vedanta, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the Bhagavad Gita.
In addition to his writings, Bannanje delivered thousands of lectures, amassing over 23,000 hours of audio and video content still in circulation today. His contributions have earned him the Padma Shri, honorary doctorates, and numerous prestigious titles from spiritual institutions.
The press conference was attended by M. Prasannacharya, Balaji Raghavendra Acharya, Vinay Bhushan Acharya, K. Prasad Upadhyay, and Vasudeva Bhat Perampally among others.
