London : An incident aboard an EVA Air flight from Bangkok bound for London led to an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport on Friday, reports The Metro. Cabin crew discovered a passenger attempting suicide in the airplane bathroom during descent. The passenger’s identity and motive for the attempt remain undisclosed.
Upon noticing a passenger still inside the restroom during descent, cabin crew investigated and found signs suggesting a suicide attempt. Immediate first aid was provided by crew members and an onboard doctor. The aircraft landed at approximately 7:30 pm local time, where medical personnel awaited to transport the passenger to a hospital. At present, updates on the passenger’s condition are unavailable.
EVA Air has confirmed the incident but refrained from providing additional details or commenting further. Earlier this year, another flight diversion occurred in January when a Ryanair flight from the UK to Spain made an unexpected landing in Portugal due to a disturbance caused by unruly passengers.
Reports indicate that a group of potentially intoxicated men harassed female passengers during the flight. The situation escalated when a flight attendant intervened, resulting in the attendant allegedly being knocked unconscious by the unruly passengers. Consequently, the captain issued a warning and diverted the flight.
Passengers reported that despite the captain’s warning, the altercation persisted for 20 minutes before the plane landed in Portugal.
