A dramatic incident transpired in Colombia as a helicopter carrying six individuals crashed shortly after takeoff in Medellin on February 26. Following the crash, the helicopter became lodged on the side of a building, leading to an extensive rescue operation involving more than 70 responders. Reportedly, all occupants, including the pilot, copilot, and four passengers, survived the ordeal, although one passenger sustained injuries to the leg and body lacerations and required immediate medical attention.
The helicopter was scheduled for a brief 12-minute flight to transport passengers to Hangar 45, a restaurant known for its upscale dining experience, according to The Sun.
Luisa Osorio, one of the passengers, along with her boyfriend Francisco Salas, recounted feeling uncertain about their survival. Osorio mentioned being instructed by rescuers to remain still during the extraction process, as reported by Colombian newspaper Noticias Caracol.
The widely circulated video depicts the helicopter’s erratic movements shortly after takeoff, transforming the journey into a nightmare. Another passenger, Salas, communicated with his parents in the United States via video chat to express gratitude and bid farewell. In the emotional exchange, Salas conveyed his love and appreciation to his father while informing him of the crash and his precarious situation within the building.
