Buenos Aires: As is, the G20 summit which is currently taking place in Argentina has already seen its fair share of drama with its stand-out moments like the viral video in which Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince were seen doing a high-five or the delay by the Argentine delegation in receiving French President Emmanuel Macaron leaving him in an empty airport. But now the last in this long list is Cronia TV, an Argentine news channel has shown the Simpson’s character Apu as India’s prime Minister landing in the airport at Buenos Aires.
The channel used the headline “Apu arrives” while showing the PM’s plane touchdown on the runway in the nation’s capital. This has led to widespread condemnation on social media with many trolls hitting out at the channel.
The Simpsons, is one of the longest running animated shows on American TV which later came under intense scrutiny after Indian-American Hari Kondabolu in his documentary highlighted that the character was a stereotypical depiction of Indian immigrants in Hollywood.
Kondabolu has also taken to Twitter to express his disbelief over the Argentine news channel’s goof-up.
