Yadgir: After suffering a humiliating defeat in the Assembly by-polls that were held on December 5, the Janata Dal (Secular), like the Congress, is also seeing a slew of resignations.
State JD(S) general secretary Sharangouda Kandkur, who is the son of former Gurumitkal MLA Naganagouda Kandkur, tendered his resignation to the party’s high command today.
It can be recalled that, during the Congress-JD(S) state coalition government, Sharangouda had busted the infamous ‘Operation Lotus’ with an audiotape alleged to be that of the then BJP state president and current Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
He had revealed that BSY had assured to pay him a sum of Rs 25 crores quitting the JD(S) joining the BJP and another Rs 25 crores to contest in the by-polls.
Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Sharangouda has resigned because of the party’s poor performance in the recently concluded by-elections. It can be recalled that they did not win even a single seat.
