With the hype around the release of the Playstation 5 growing, the gaming community is gearing up for yet another sophisticated, technologically advanced console that will undoubtedly take gaming to new heights and provide a gaming experience like no other. That is the world we now live in, with sophisticated devices coming to the fore on an impressively regular basis.

Technological advancements have had a massive impact on the gaming landscape, with introductions such as live streaming bringing a whole new audience to gaming, alongside new features in games such as AI, VR and additional accessories like joysticks and communicative devices like headsets. Despite this, though, the humble old mobile phone is still standing up against the consoles of today with their array of functionalities and far more impressive graphics.

There are dedicated gaming communities established with a host of mobile phone games, from the likes of Pokemon Go to creations like the Fruit Mania slot at casino.com/in, alongside other classic creations like Candy Crush and Angry Birds. More people are mobile phone gaming than ever before, and that’s despite consoles like the PS5 entering the fore. Why is this, though? What is the appeal of mobile gaming in 2020? Below are a few reasons as to why.

Gaming on the go
Gaming on a console, no matter how much more advanced or sophisticated it is, is far more of a commitment than gaming on a smartphone. Console games require a lot of time and attention, they can be incredibly hard to grasp, and they’re not as user friendly when it comes to the wider gaming community. That wider gaming community now consists of the elderly and young children thanks to the emergence of mobile phone gaming, where advancements shown in our mobile phones have coincided with a much better gaming experience on a mobile, therefore also allowing a new audience to access games on mobile. Those games can all be enjoyed while on the move and getting on with your day, too. It takes a matter of seconds to download a game, and they’re generally designed to be picked up and put down, which is why it’s common to see people gaming on public transport or while waiting in a long queue. Console gaming is far more of a commitment, that’s for sure.

Console-quality releases
Thanks to the dramatic improvements made with our mobile phone games, people can enjoy console-quality titles on their miniature handheld devices. The likes of PUBG Mobile and FIFA Mobile have demonstrated how console games can make a successful transition over to mobile, which is also why games developers generally release the console and PC versions of games simultaneously with the mobile version of games. There are additional accessories to improve the gaming experience on a mobile phone too, with gamers adding joysticks and VR headsets to their arsenal in recent times. Things will only improve in the future, also.

Cheap and free games
All mobile phone gamers need is access to AppStore and Google Play, and there’s a comprehensive selection of games to try out. It all comes without spending any money or much smaller sums either, which appeals to people, especially when you consider how much it costs to purchase a modern-day console, the games that come with it, and the additional accessories you might need too. Console gaming isn’t cheap. In fact, it has got more and more expensive, which has helped fuel the rise of mobile phone gaming. Mobile phone games can be downloaded within seconds; they’re usually fun and easy to grasp and cost a lot less than console games.
