Mangaluru: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal is hosting the All-India Inter-NIT Sports Meet 2K22-23 (Volleyball, Kabaddi and Yoga), from Jan 20 to Jan 22, 2023, at NITK Surathkal with over 1000+ athletes from 25 different NITs across India participating.
NITK Surathkal has always been in the forefront of sports with its rich legacy and alumni accomplishments of National and International fame. This spectacular event will bring together the best of NITs (National Institutes of Technology) from all over India for a shared love for sports and physical fitness. The event provides a platform for students from all National Institute of Technology (NITs) across India the opportunity to participate, compete and demonstrate their physical ability. The event will be held at the newly established NITK Surathkal Sports Complex. The event will be conducted in a socially responsible and safe manner, following all COVID-19 safety protocols & guidelines.
The AIINSM Inaugural Function was held today, Jan 20, 2023, At 11:30 am at SJA, NITK. Famous Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, Weightlifter Pushparaj Hegde P. was the Chief Guest. Prof Mohan Kumar, Director in charge & Dean Faculty Welfare, presided over a function. Kuldeep Singh, is the Neutral observer of the AIINSM. Prof. Narendranath.S, Dean Students Welfare, Physical Director (I/c), SAS Officers, other Deans, Teaching and non-teaching staff of NITK were a part of the inaugural ceremony.
Director In-charge, Prof. G. C. Mohan Kumar, gave the presidential remarks: “This national level meet will provide an excellent opportunity to young athletes to exhibit their skills and competency in Athletics and also to share and learn from the experience of others. We are thankful to the other NITs for sending their talented athletes and are confident that this event will be a great success.
The Chief Guest Pushparaj Hegde. P congratulated the participants and encouraged the youth to engage in sports for not only being physically fit, but also for the emotional well – being. He further stated that, the GOI initiatives such as Khelo India and Fit India aims at inculcating team spirit, enhances the analytical thinking and instils leadership skills, goal setting and risk-taking abilities to lead to a healthy and a strong nation.
