Mangalore: Yogesha Kalasdka, a renowned social worker and a Manager in the Mangalore Special Economic Zone received the “Person of the Year, 2022” award for his meritorious services in rehabilitation of people affected by the land acquisition.
The award instituted by the Ecolink Institute of Well-being, an international training provider and the Linking Friends Club, Mangalore recognizes persons with outstanding achievements in activities that promote human rights, education and social work at the end of each year.
The Award was handed over in a glittering ceremony in Madanthyar on December 28 by Shree Vivek Vincent Pais, the Director of Dharmasthala social service projects and previous winner of the “Person of the Year Award” in 2021.
Yogesha serves as the manager and Public relations Officer in the Mangalore Special Economic Zone and in charge of the Rehabilitation packages and projects among people affected by the land acquisition for various industries. A postgraduate in Social work and a social entrepreneur, Yogesha won praise for his smooth handling of rehabilitation programs among thousands of families with his several years of social work experience.
Previously working in Link Center, he has proved his efficiency and leadership in developing community-based de-addiction camps and prevention programs. He has efficiently provided leadership for around 40 community-based De-addiction camps in various parts of Karnataka, including Gulbarga.
Known as a community organizer and social entrepreneur, Yogesha also manages a number of grass-root levels voluntary projects, especially targeting the education of school children, youth, temple renovation, agriculture, health, and rural development. He is also a certified addiction professional from Ecolink Institute & Colombo Plan.
Handing over the award, Vivek Vincent Pais appreciated him for his number of community initiatives for supporting the education of poor children, supporting the salary of teachers in rural schools, and giving leadership in community projects.
Anand Kundar, a senior counsellor at Prajna Counseling Center said Yogesha is a personification of humility and passion for social work.
Dr Thomas Scaria, the Director of the Ecolink Institute said Yogesha is an Icon of youth who has played significant roles in rehabilitation services, both among farmers and those addicted to alcohol and drug use disorder.
