Ballari: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 30-year-old woman reportedly ended her life and those of her three young children by drowning in a farm pond in Baradanahalli village, Kurugodu taluk, following a domestic quarrel with her husband.
The deceased has been identified as Siddamma (30). Her children — Abhigna (8), Avani (6), and Arya (4) — also lost their lives in the tragedy. Originally from Belagavi district, Siddamma and her husband Kumar had moved to Ballari for sheep rearing and were residing on farmland belonging to a man named Raghavendra.
According to police sources, the couple had a heated argument on Tuesday. Siddamma, reportedly distraught after the dispute, is suspected to have taken the extreme step by jumping into the pond with her children.
The Kurugodu Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by Siddamma’s brother and are continuing their investigation to uncover further details surrounding the incident.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community and once again highlighted the urgent need for mental health support and domestic conflict intervention in rural areas.
