New Delhi: After cyclone ‘Kyarr’ that formed between the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal due to low pressure and devastated the lives of the people living in the southern part the country and the Gulf coast, another cyclone named ‘Maha’ is expected to intensify in the next 48 hours.
Cyclone ‘Maha’, which has already begun forming in the southwest region of the Bay of Bengal due to low pressure, has turned into a depression and is likely expected to move in the northwest direction, away from the Indian coast, as reported by Skymet.
The weather reports have predicted that, in the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala and the South Indian belt.
Due to the depression, the wind speeds along the Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu coasts are expected to be rough to very rough over the next 72 hours.
As a precautionary measure, fishermen in these areas have been advised not to venture out for deep sea fishing.
Cyclone ‘Maha’ is said to be the fourth after cyclones Vayu (in September), Hikka (end of September), and Kyarr (in October).
