New Delhi: Lakshya Chauhan, a 24-year-old lawyer and the son of Delhi Police’s Assistant Commissioner Yashpal Singh, met a tragic end while attending a wedding in Haryana. Allegedly pushed into a canal by two companions, Vikas Bhardwaj and an accomplice named Abhishek, Chauhan’s body was discovered amidst murky circumstances.
The sequence of events unfolded when Chauhan, accompanied by Bhardwaj and Abhishek, embarked on a journey to Sonepat for the wedding festivities. Concern arose when Chauhan failed to return home the following day, prompting ACP Yashpal Singh to file a missing person report, initiating a search operation.
Subsequent investigation uncovered a simmering financial feud between Chauhan and Bhardwaj, which reportedly escalated to the extent of a planned murder. Bhardwaj claimed that Chauhan owed him money and repeatedly dodged repayment, straining their relationship.
Abhishek, detained after an extensive search, divulged details of Bhardwaj’s resentment towards Chauhan during the wedding event. Allegedly, the two conspired to execute the son of the senior police officer on their way back.
Under the cover of darkness, the trio made a stop near the Munak Canal, ostensibly for a bathroom break. Exploiting the situation, Bhardwaj and Abhishek purportedly pushed Chauhan into the canal before fleeing the scene with his vehicle.
Upon their return to Delhi, Bhardwaj dropped off Abhishek in Narela before vanishing. Subsequently, Abhishek was apprehended, leading to the registration of a police case based on his testimony.
Efforts are now underway to track down Bhardwaj as the investigation intensifies.
