New Delhi: Delhi and its neighboring areas witnessed light rainfall this morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a generally cloudy sky throughout the day accompanied by intermittent light rain showers and gusty winds.

Following recent wet weather in North India triggered by a western disturbance, IMD Scientist Naresh indicated another disturbance is poised to influence weather conditions in mountainous regions this weekend. Naresh mentioned to news agency ANI, “Another Western Disturbance will begin affecting from tomorrow, bringing heavy snowfall and rainfall to mountainous regions. Rainfall and snowfall may occur at 75 to 100 per cent of the stations.”

Naresh elaborated that on February 4, snowfall is anticipated in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, while Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, and North-West Madhya Pradesh may encounter light hailstorms.

He explained, “Whenever there is a Western Disturbance, it leads to changes in wind patterns, resulting in a rising tendency in temperature. Thus, we do not anticipate a drop in temperature in north-west India and central India. Temperatures will rise during the morning hours. Dense fog may be observed in the morning in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi NCR.”

Furthermore, Naresh assured that there would be no prevalence of cold wave conditions in north India in the coming days due to the western disturbance. “There will not be a cold day, as temperatures will not drop in the next few days. So we are not expecting a cold day in the near future. We are also not anticipating a cold wave in the next 5-7 days,” he stated.

In reference to the weather pattern in the national capital, Lokesh commented, “In Delhi, light rainfall might persist from February 3 to February 4.
