In a serene corner of Thrissur, a heartwarming chapter unfolded at the Government Old Age Home — one that redefined the boundaries of love and companionship. Amid quiet corridors and daily routines, 79-year-old Vijayaraghavan from Peramangalam and 75-year-old Sulochana from Irinjalakuda found in each other something truly special: a second chance at love.
Vijayaraghavan, a resident of the facility since 2019, and Sulochana, who joined just last year, formed a gentle bond through shared tea, conversation, and everyday life. What began as friendship soon grew into a desire for lifelong companionship. When the duo expressed their wish to marry, the staff responded not with skepticism, but wholehearted support.
Backed by the Social Justice Department and solemnized under the Special Marriage Act, their wedding was far from ordinary. It became a joyful celebration, attended by Kerala’s Higher Education and Social Justice Minister Dr. R Bindu, Thrissur Mayor M K Varghese, and a host of well-wishers, including fellow residents and officials.
The ceremony, filled with flowers, applause, and emotional moments, wasn’t just a wedding — it was a reminder that love is timeless. As garlands were exchanged and the air filled with blessings, the couple offered a quiet message to society: love doesn’t retire with age; it simply waits for the right moment.
