Guwahati: In yet another dramatic turn, the opposition BJP and the rebel Congress in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly met at a conference hall of a hotel in the main city of Assam on Thursday to elect a new chief minister and to “vote out” the Nabam Tuki-led Congress government.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday, the rebel Congress MLAs and the opposition BJP impeached Speaker Nabam Rebia in a makeshift Assembly in a community hall.

According to an India Today report, 11 BJP MLAs along with two independents joined hands with 20 Congress rebels to meet at a conference hall of a hotel in Guwahati as the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly premises have been sealed since Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Guwahati High Court on Thursday kept in abeyance all decisions taken by the state “Assembly” on Wednesday in which it “removed” Speaker Nabam Rebia.

The court order came on a writ petition filed by the Speaker challenging the December 9 notification issued by Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa advancing the Assembly session to December 16 from January 24, 2016.

The court observed that the exercise undertaken by the Governor to advance the Assembly session is in violation of the Constitution.
