Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has responded to allegations from the opposition that the constitution and democracy would be in danger if he win a third term.
“The Constitution of the country is important for the BJP government, and even if Babasaheb Ambedkar himself come, he could not abolish it,” he stated during an election rally in Nagpur district, Vidharbha, Maharashtra, on Friday. He was campaigning for BJP nominees in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli-Chimur.
Modi expressed his belief that BR Ambedkar’s “soul must be blessing me” for the decision to revoke the special status from Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized the Opposition, questioning why the Constitution was not applied throughout the country until Article 370 was repealed in 2019. He attributed the resistance to the Opposition’s soft approach towards separatists.
Accusing the Congress of attempting to “destroy the Constitution” by imposing Emergency in the country, Modi raised concerns about democracy during that period. He said that Dalits and tribals in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have now got constitutional rights, and they were neglected under Congress rule and were treated as vote bank.
Modi concluded by stating that the work accomplished in the last ten years was merely an appetizer, hinting at more achievements to come. He announced his commitment to the welfare of the people and the progress of the nation, promising to devote every moment to their betterment.
