Several coaches of a high-speed train met with a derailment near Madar railway station in Rajasthan’s Ajmer during the night spanning Sunday to Monday. Presently, rescue operations are in progress. Addressing the situation, Shashi Kiran, the North Western Railways CPRO, stated, “Today, vehicle number 12548, en route from Sabarmati to Agra, encountered a derailment near Ajmer’s Madar, adjacent to the home signal. Specifically, four general coaches and the train’s engine were involved in the derailment.”
Nevertheless, the CPRO assured that there were no fatalities. He mentioned, “Railway personnel promptly reached the site of the mishap. Thankfully, there have been no fatalities. However, individuals sustaining minor injuries were expeditiously transported to nearby medical facilities.”

Meanwhile, Rajeev Dhankar, Ajmer Railway DRM, announced the formation of a three-member committee to investigate the accident’s root cause. Dhankar stated, “Our headquarters has constituted a three-member committee to probe the accident’s cause thoroughly. The committee members will conduct a comprehensive investigation, taking into account all available evidence and witness statements.”
To facilitate assistance, railway authorities have established a support desk at Ajmer station and provided a helpline number, 0145-2429642. The incident has resulted in disruptions to rail traffic on the affected line. Subsequently, six trains were canceled, and two were rerouted following the derailment of four coaches of the Sabarmati-Agra superfast train in Ajmer.
Train No. 19736, operating from Marwar to Jaipur, stands canceled, while Train No. 12915, serving the Sabarmati to Delhi route, has been diverted, along with Train No. 17020 from Hyderabad to Hisar.
In a separate incident last month, four wagons of a freight train derailed near Vijayawada railway station in Andhra Pradesh’s Rayanapadu area. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities stemming from that incident.
Consequently, several trains had to be rerouted, causing delays in their schedules.
