Mathura: Tragedy strikes at Vrindavan as two elderly women, both over 60 years old, who went to Vrindavan for a holy visit to the Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura, sadly lost their lives on Sunday. Officials said it was due to illness.
The unfortunate event happened on Sunday, affecting two elderly devotees, one from Sitapur (Uttar Pradesh) and the other from Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh). Even though the police said there was no link between the deaths and the crowd at the temple, sources revealed that both women felt unwell inside the temple. They were rushed to a hospital where, unfortunately, they passed away.
SSP Mathura, Shailesh Pandey, advised older people, those with health problems, and the young to reconsider visiting the temple at this busy time of the year. The number of visitors in Mathura and Vrindavan usually goes up towards the end of the year, and it’s expected to be even higher in the new year as people want to start the year on an auspicious note.
On Saturday, there was a huge crowd of devotees at Banke Bihari Temple, and this continued on Sunday. The way to the temple was very crowded. Though the police said the deaths were not because of mismanagement of the crowd, Pandey clarified, “These two women died at different times and different places, away from the temple premises.”
Pandey mentioned that both women were over 60 and had health problems. It seems they were already unwell, and despite being taken to a Vrindavan hospital, they couldn’t be saved.
