New Delhi: Actor, former BJP MP and father of BJP candidate from Gurdaspur, Dharmendra said that he would not have let Sunny Deol contest if he had known that he would be going head to head with Congress MP Sunil Jakhar.
ANI quoted the veteran actor as saying that Balaram Jakhar, Sunil’s father, was like a brother to him. Had he known that Sunny would be up against Sunil, he would not have allowed him to contest.
He added that Sunny, who only recently joined the BJP, cannot debate an experienced politician such as Sunil Jakhar. “We come from the film industry. We are here to listen to the plight of the people and not to debate,” he said.
It can be recalled that in the previous week, Sunny had stirred up controversy by admitting that he did not know much about the country’s relations with Pakistan.
