He was speaking after presiding over a publicity programme on historical ballads organised by Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya, Gotagodi, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Taluk Unit and Jagadguru Gurusiddeshwara Mahila Shikshana Mahavidyalaya at Sri J. G. Mahila Shikshana Mahavidyalaya auditorium on Wednesday December 27. He said that ballads were the inspiration for the freedom struggle in the country before 1947. Speaking on historical ballads, Patil said that ballads provide inspiration when self-respect is hurt.
He added that Lavani depicts the life story of many states and fighters who participated in the freedom struggle.
