Vijayapura: Asserting that his objective is to have a people friendly police, newly appointed Superintendent of Police, H. D. Anand Kumar has sought the cooperation of the people.
Addressing presspersons on Friday July 30, he said that he has also instructed his subordinates to behave in a friendly manner with the people.
“I have always believed in working in a friendly manner with the people in order to send the message that the police are there for the service of people. I hope to get good cooperation from the people of Vijayapura”, he said.
Earlier, he informed that the district police have arrested two bike thieves and seized some 20 stolen motorcycles from them. Kumar said that the total worth of the seized vehicles is around Rs 9.30 lakh.
Those who are arrested are Revanansidda Biradar (21) and Suresh Biradar (30). He said that both are habitual offenders and have been involved in motorcycle theft since long.
They were stealing the motorcycles in the bordering area of Vijayapura and Solapur districts of Maharashtra.
Kumar said that while both accused were stealing the motorcycles by breaking the handle locks, sometimes they could get the vehicle easily because the owners failed to lock it.
“It is the negligence of owners of motorcycles who do not lock the vehicles”, he said.
To a question, Kumar said that the police will suggest the motorcycle sellers and manufacturers to ensure that the vehicle’s locks are designed in a manner that it becomes tough for the thieves to break.
Expressing concern over youth people becoming criminals, he said that often the parent fails to keep a strong watch over their children and their activities.
The parents have a great responsibility in controlling their children from going down a wrong path. Else police will have to do that job, he said.
