Bengaluru: While lot of cine stars are creating a buzz by announcing their intent to join mainstream politics, popular actor Prakash Raj opined that he does not like the idea of actors joining political parties.

“I’m not joining any political party. Film actors becoming leaders is a disaster for my country,” said the actor who has been posting tweets with the hashtag #justasking, crticising the policy decisions of the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi such as the demonetization, censorship, moral policing etc.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday Raj without naming any actor said, “I don’t like actors joining politics because they are actors and have fans. They should always stay aware of their responsibility towards them.”

Notably his comments have come at a time when famed actor Kamal Haasan has announced his intent of launching his own political party and has even launched a mobile app for crowdfunding for the party. Well-known Sandalwood actor Upendra too has taken the political plunge in Karnataka.

Meanwhile, rumors are abuzz that Tamil superstar Rajinikanth too would announce his political debut on his birthday i.e December 12.

It may be recalled that Raj had hit out at the Prime Minister calling him a “bigger actor” adding that he should give his national award to the PM.
