Ballari: Bellari, which was a large district, has been divided into two districts. Now, regarding the merger of the new Vijayanagar district in the Bellary district, Sports and Youth Department Minister Nagendra said that he is ready to take a decision if all the people’s representatives agree to induct the Vijayanagar district to the Bellary district.Will meet CM Siddaramaiah and discuss to make Akhanda Bellary district, he added.
After the Yeddyurappa-led BJP government came to power in 2021, on February 8, Vijayanagara was separated from Bellary and declared as a separate district. It became the 31st district of the state from October 2, 2021. But Minister Nagendra was against this. He also promised to make undivided Bellary district once congress government comes to power.
Now the minister has expressed his enthusiasm to add Vijayanagar district to Bellary again, and he has made sankalp to add Vijayanagar district to Bellary and make it an integral Bellary district.
Former Minister Anand Singh had resigned as a Congress MLA in the coalition government over the establishment of Vijayanagar district. Later he left the Congress and joined the BJP as the Vijayanagara district was not established.
