Bengaluru: Leopard attack deaths, Rs 15L compensation announced

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said Rs. 15 lakh solatium will be paid to families of those killed in the leopard attack.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday December 3, he said the compensation will be on par with those who die in an elephant attack. Hitherto, the attacks were going in and around forests but now it is taking place around Bengaluru. “The Forest Department has taken this very seriously. Efforts are being made in the last week to capture it and put the net for this purpose. Instructions are given to nab it alive and release it in forests,” he added.

Special team formed

Bommai said that in Bengaluru and Mysuru ranges, there are several leopards around the elephant corridor. A special team has been constituted to prevent the leopard attack and to take certain specific actions. The operation will be launched by the special team to check leopards and nab those which have come outside the forest.
